Today marks the official launch of The Old Cellar Blog – your source of insights into all things related to Bulgarian wine and spirits.
Growing demand from our customers has led us to become the first UK storyteller of the Bulgarian drinks industry. Years of experience as importers and retailers have taught us about the importance of stories, those of the wines and the people behind them.
But thus far, you might have only heard one too few. As a wine-producing country, Bulgaria has been largely underrepresented on a global scale. Curiosity and diversity have driven interest of late, yet few people outside its borders have a clear understanding of how different the modern era of Bulgarian wine is. The Balkan region is arguably one of the last undiscovered corners of the wine world, combining long authentic history and a field of innovation.
The Old Cellar Blog aims to fill this gap. You’ll meet the winemakers, learn about Bulgarian viticulture, terroir and native grape varieties, get involved with our take on spirits, funky wines and all-time classics. The perfect Bordeaux-blend or Pétillant naturel from Bulgaria? Few other wine regions deliver on quite so many fronts. Let’s start this journey together.

About us
The Old Cellar is a premium importer of Bulgarian wine and spirits, based in London. It was established by two long-time residents of London, Dilyan and Stoyan. We are ambassadors for interesting wines and spirits in the UK and aim to grow the market’s understanding of premium quality products from the Balkans. We take pride in our selection and focus on bringing the best products from Bulgaria, the Balkans, Central and Eastern Europe, introducing our customers to some of the most dynamic and exciting producers.
