Tamianka Shishmanovo Vineyard 2019, Bratanov Family Winery, Sakar Mountain, Bulgaria
One of the most ancient local white grape varieties in the region, hand-picked from a single vineyard with long wild spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts for over 6 months. Fresh, attractive and complex, with dominating aromas of geranium and quince, herbs and delicate white flowers. A great match to smoked fish, sushi, lightly spiced Asian food, even some desserts like lemon tart or cheesecake.
The Bulgarian local grape Rubin (a crossing between Syrah and Nebbiolo) from winery’s own vineyards, made with minimal intervention during the winemaking processes. Dark ruby with aromas of blackberries, raisins and plums. Medium to full bodied, with further notes of dark chocolate, mulberries, figs and spices and a long finish. Screams for beef steaks, venison or game dishes.

A 100% Mavrud - the signature Bulgarian local variety, made by one of the best specialist wineries for this grape. Hand-picked and fermented with no oak ageing. Violet red coloured, complex, balanced and subtle, bursting with black forest fruits, cherries and liquorice notes, perfect acidity and prominent ripe. Great with BBQ dishes, lamb or duck.

Pinot Noir has been a calling card of Romania for decades, this one coming from the well suited for this fussy grape variety terroir of Dealu Mare on the hills surrounding Carpathian mountains. Fresh, soft and delicate, with intense raspberry, and violets bouquet, well-structured and with excellent depth. Velvety textured, with hints of cherry and huckleberry on
the palate. Great with game birds or mushroom dishes.

In blessed years such as the vintage 2015 the winemakers of Alira aim to show the harmony between their signature local Romanian grape Fetească Neagră and the international Merlot. The wine boasts an abundance of black cherries and blackberries along secondary notes of dried spices, mint, aged balsamic and dark chocolate. Full bodied and powerful, with well integrated mellow tannins. Beautifully aged in the bottle red to enjoy with your red meat mains or matured cheeses.
