APPELLATION: Danube Plain, near the Black Sea Coast, Bulgaria
GRAPES: 100% Evmolpia – an indigenous red Bulgarian grape variety created in 1991 by crossing Merlot and Mavrud.
WINEMAKING: The grapes are picked in September 2019 from Tsarev Brod winery’s own vineyards near the city of Shumen, Danube plain, North Eastern Black Sea coast of Bulgaria. The grapes are crushed and fermented at controlled temperature of 14-16° in a small stainless steel tank for 30 days.
AGEING: The wine was aged for 8 months in 400 litre French oak barrels.
COLOUR: Intense purple colour
NOSE: Pronounced nose with notes of black fruits – blackberries and plums.
PALATE: Medium to full bodied red, with great freshness and concentration, long lively fruity finish.
