A favourite bubbly of ours made by our good friend Niki Krastev, the head winemaker of Tsarev Brod winery, using the Ancestral Method - the oldest version of sparkling wine making. Gently fizzy, with light apricot colour and fresh intense notes of lemon, apple and yellow fruits, fine and persistent mousse. Our choice for an indulgent aperitif.
A citrusy and mineral white discovery of ours from Georgia made of 100% Rkatsiteli, bouncy and dry exhibiting herbal and floral notes, yellow fruits, well balanced and refined character. Enjoy as an aperitif or with shellfish, also great with Asian cuisine dishes.
Solaris “Vineyard Selection” 2020, Haralambievi, Danube Plain, Bulgaria
A new to Bulgaria grape variety grown in Mogilite single vineyard located in the middle of the slope above Petarnishka bara river near the village of Petarnitsa. Pale straw with green hues, elegant notes of green apple, melon, white peach and flowers, light to medium bodied white, very fresh and zippy, lovely as an aperitif or with shellfish, seafood, salads, light Asian dishes. Only 1570 bottles made.
Vine in Flames Feteasca Regala 2019, Budureasca, Dealu Mare, Romania
Made of 100% Feteasca regala - Romania’s signature white grape variety. Intense aromas of quince and stone fruits alongside pronounced minerality. Ripe flavours of yellow fruits, apricots and almonds with refreshing acidity and fine finish. A nice match to seafood or grilled vegetables.
Natura Muscat & Dimyat 2019, Korten Winery, Thracian Valley, Bulgaria
A blend of 50% Muscat Ottonel and 50% Dimyat, the latter being an old Bulgarian grape variety. Bright straw colour with green hues, expressive aromas of green apples, roses, lychee and spring honey. Lovely freshness in the mouth with elegant notes of tropical fruits, white roses, moreish and crisp finish. Great on its own or with vegetarian dishes or spicy aromatic food.
Urban Nomad Rosé 2019, Via Verde Vineyards, Struma Valley, Bulgaria
Inspired by the adventurous spirit, this wine reminds of the excited movement and fascinating emotions that turn a simple day in the city into an adventure. Beautifully pale pink peach coloured rosé with pronounced red fruit notes on the nose, medium bodied with juicy freshness, lovely notes of strawberries and white cherries and zingy fresh finish. Great as an aperitif or with chicken, smoked salmon, shellfish, salads.
Orange Keratsuda 2020, Libera Estate, Struma Valley, Bulgaria
A native Bulgarian white grape variety native to Struma Valley, fermented with the grape skins for about 45 days and unfiltered. Amber coloured with notes of pears, apricots and quince. Very fresh with pronounced tannins coming from the skin contact balanced with refreshing acidity. Lovely along Asian cuisine, roast game birds or white meats.
Yerevan Winemakers Red Blend 2019, Armenia Wine Company, Armenia
Our first wine discovery from Armenia, blend of their native red varieties Areni and Karmrahyut, medium ruby red coloured, with delicate dark cherry aroma, juicy, fresh and well-balanced in the mouth, with lively long finish. Ideal for BBQ meats or semi hard cheeses.
Merul Mavrud Reserve 2017, Rumelia Winery, Thracian Valley, Bulgaria
One of the best Mavruds from Bulgaria – its most ancient native red grape varieties picked from Rumelia’s own old vineyard near the historic town of Panagyurishte and aged for 12 months in a combination of Bulgarian and French oak barrels. Modern, complex, balanced and subtle, bursting with black forest fruits, smoke and leather, perfect acidity and prominent ripe tannins with a very long finish. Drink alongside roast beef, steaks, venison, stews.
Traditionally grown in North West Bulgaria Gamza in vineyards at an altitude of 35-70m in a close proximity to the river Danube. Lively and moreish light crimson scarlet red coloured red, pronounced nose of berries and herbs, very fresh and fruity, carrying the tipicity of the grape variety, medium bodied with ripe cherry and red berry notes and very elegant silky tannins. Nice with roast chicken and game birds, vegetarian dishes.
Nomad Feteasca Neagra 2018, Aurelia Visinescu, Dealu Mare, Romania
100% Feteasca Neagra or Black Maiden in English, the most popular Romanian grape variety grown in Aurelia Visinescu’s own vineyards on the hills surrounding Carpathian mountains. Medium to full bodied red, deep red garnet coloured, prune and black cherry nose, chocolate, vanilla and soft tannins from the few months oak ageing on the palate. Enjoy along red meat, BBQ food, mushroom dishes.
Melnik 2019, Orbelia Winery, Struma Valley, Bulgaria
Melnik 55 (a.k.a. Early Melnik Vine) - the signature red local Bulgarian grape variety of Struma Valley from winery’s 15 year old vineyards near the village of Levunovo. No oak is used at any time during the winemaking process in order to preserve the wine’s pure and natural taste. Bright ruby, subtle aromas of cherries and herbs, very harmonious and well-balanced, with juicy acidity and medium body. Great with lamb, pork or pasta with ragout.
