The signature Mavrud of Rumelia winery - one of the most prominent specialist wineries for this grape variety in Bulgaria. Hand-picked and stainless steel tank fermented with no oak ageing. Intense ruby with violet nuances, complex, balanced and subtle and bursting with black forest fruits. Great flavour concentration with lots of black fruits, liquorice and dark chocolate, refreshing acidity and a long finish. Enjoy at your autumn BBQ.

Natura Mavrud & Rubin 2021, Korten Winery, Thracian Valley, Bulgaria

A lovey blend of the two signature indigenous red grape varieties of Bulgaria – the Mavrud which boasts a noticeable presence in the body of the wine and the enigmatic Rubin (a cross between Syrah and Nebbiolo) that adds a variety of aromas and lively character. Deep ruby red colour with expressive notes of black cherries, plums and herbs. Medium bodied with very well-balanced acidity and ripe tannins. Aged for 9 months in French and American oak barrels. Drink with pork, stews and mature cheeses.

Organic Cabernet Sauvignon & Mavrud “Cherno” 2015, Neragora Estate, Thracian Valley, Bulgaria

The vision of the Italian organic specialist Massimo Azzolini who in 2002 discovered the pristine land near Chernogorovo village in Bulgaria and planted vineyards there. A blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Mavrud aged for a year in Bulgarian oak barrels – deep red coloured with intense nose of black fruits and spices, a very good balance on the palate with delicate smooth tannins and a long finish. Lovely maturity and lovely alongside red meats especially beef, lamb, pigeon or other game dishes.
